Comfort Food in San Miguel
*hecho en mexico
This is a super popular indoor-outdoor restaurant with an extensive menu that is very American-ized. They have lots of delicious soups and salads, burgers and sandwiches (including a very good Reuben), pasta dishes, seafood dishes, steaks, enchiladas – you name it. Their food is consistently very good, their portions are American-size, and their service staff is very good. This restaurant – which also has live music on weekend nights - feels a lot like an American “every day” restaurant (maybe like a Chili’s, only nicer?), so it is very popular with the expat crowd.
Hours: Noon to 10 weekdays & til 11 weekends

This is a relatively new restaurant (opened in 2013) and it’s already one of our regular stops – primarily because it’s so close to Casa GGG (and because we really like their big street-side patio). They have an relatively large lunch/dinner menu, from classic Mexican specialties items to grilled shrimp dishes, steaks, etc. We always start with the Tacos Locos, because ground beef tacos are hard to find in San Miguel - and the sauces they come with are great. Their breakfast menu is interesting and good. The interior dining rooms are very pretty, and this is definitely the largest restaurant in San Miguel, so it’s good for large groups.

There are a lot of good Italian restaurants in San Miguel, and Vivoli is one of our faves. It’s a cute white table-cloth restaurant with good service. They have a fairly extensive menu that is much more than pizza and pasta. They have some very good meat and seafood plates (with very generous portions). They also deliver.
Hours: 12:30 to 10:00 p.m. (11 on weekends)
Address:Hernandez Macias 66
antigua trattoria romana
The menu at this restaurant is very similar to the menu at Vivoli, only better, in our opinion. We love their pizza. In fact, we love everything on their menu, including their steaks, pork chops and lamb (which come with amazingly good sides, like mashed potatoes, spinach, etc). We’ve only eaten in the restaurant a few times, because the restaurant is super small so you need to plan ahead to grab a table – but they do deliver and we are surely their best customers!
